What is the Spine Fix?

Most of us spend hours sitting — at a desk, in front of a laptop, at the dining table or in the car. On many chairs the hips sink level with the knees or even lower, the pelvis rolls backwards and the lower back slowly slumps into a curve. The Spine Fix is a sitting aid that you keep on your chair. It elevates your hips slightly higher than your knees, which helps the pelvis sit upright so that keeping your back straight takes less effort.

It is not a back brace. It does not strap on, hold or force your spine into position. It simply changes how you sit, so a straighter posture comes more naturally. Despite its name, we do not claim it fixes or treats any spinal condition — it is a posture-support and comfort aid for everyday sitting.

How it helps you sit upright

  • Hips higher than knees. Raising the hips slightly above the knees helps the pelvis stay upright instead of rolling back into a slouch.
  • A natural lower-back curve. With the pelvis upright, the lower back can keep its natural curve and the spine can stack more easily.
  • Less effort to sit straight. Many people find it easier to keep the chest open, shoulders relaxed and head balanced during long sitting.
  • Always ready on your chair. Leave it on your office, study or dining chair so good posture is ready whenever you sit down.

Who it is for

  • Desk-job professionals: keep it on your office chair to support upright sitting through long screen hours and meetings.
  • Students: place it on your study chair to help you sit tall instead of slouching over books and laptops.
  • Seniors (55+): a simple way to sit more upright on a dining or reading chair — check that your feet stay flat on the floor and that getting up remains easy and safe.

How to use it

  1. Place it on the chair seat. Position the Spine Fix on your chair as shown in your session, so your hips will rest slightly higher than your knees.
  2. Sit well back. Sit with your hips towards the back of the chair and your feet flat on the floor or a footrest.
  3. Find your upright posture. Let your spine lengthen, keep your chest relaxed and open, shoulders soft and head balanced over your shoulders.
  4. Keep moving. Even with good posture, stand up, walk and stretch every 30–45 minutes.

In sessions, we check how the Spine Fix suits your chair, desk height and body, and pair it with simple posture habits from Dorn Therapy and props-based yoga.

Comfort and safety

Start with shorter periods and build up as it feels comfortable. Make sure your feet can rest flat and that you can get up from the chair safely. If you have a diagnosed spinal or disc condition, a hip or knee replacement, sciatica, numbness or tingling, or sharp or worsening back pain, please consult your doctor before use. The Spine Fix is a sitting-posture aid, not a medical device or treatment.
